Blogging is a business, and although I keep am very passionate about creating great content for you, there are many costs and expenses involved, including web hosting fees, blog design, my own time, forgone income from not taking on another job, etc. Thus, I can be compensated in several different ways.
If there’s one thing I learned in school, it’s that your integrity is your greatest asset. I carefully choose the companies I work with to share with you. If I don’t like them, I’m not sharing them with you (believe me, I’ve turned down a bunch). I will ONLY put things on Miss Cheesemonger that I find valuable, and that I think you will find valuable, too.
One of my primary sources of revenue as a blogger is the commission I make from sales or sales leads generated through affiliate linking. When I become an affiliate of a brand, I get an account with them that can track the links I generate leading back to that brand, and then I receive commissions based on the sales leads I have brought to the brand.
Not all of the links on my blog are affiliate links—actually, most are not. I will only recommend affiliate products to you that I have personal experience with, and love myself. I’m not interested in cluttering up my blog and your time with useless information.
This means that when you click on an affiliate link and order a product through that link, I will receive a commission. This is what allows me to pay rent, run this business, live life, and bring you more beautiful content.
Sometimes, companies that want to expose their brand to Miss Cheesemonger audiences will work with me to sponsor a blog post. We’ll decide on the topic of the post together, but I will write the content and do the photography on my own, without their influence. I will only share my own thoughts on the blog, and will only work with companies whose values and products are already aligned with Miss Cheesemonger’s values.
I have, in the past, worked with companies to give away free items, or will receive free items. If I talk about these items on my site, I will let you know that I received the item for free. If I ever write about something that I paid for for my own use, I will let you know, too. Whatever the case is, I will always be truthful when I talk about a product on this blog.
If you have any questions about any of this, please contact me.
