Hello, lovers of cheese and of life! I am writing from Southern California this week, where I am watching over my mom’s adorably fluffy dogs and spending time with my grandparents. I did find time to photograph some delicious cheeses for you for next week, but this week—I’m asking for your suggestions!
Next month, so M. Cheesemonger can celebrate his 40th birthday with all of his childhood friends, we are going to France! We’ll be in Paris and Normandy, and maybe Brittany. What suggestions have you got for what I could write about while there? I have some of my own ideas, but would love to hear yours! Please contact me or leave a comment below if you’ve got an awesome suggestion for a place I could visit, some cheeses to try, someone to interview, or whatever else tickles your fancy! I may just follow through with it.
I wouldn’t leave you without cheese this week, though, so here’s one particularly decadent, surprise, cheese pairing my cheesemonger friend Chuck and I found during our last pairing summery cheese session. I’ve been carting around a jar of Maison Pébeyre truffle honey for a while now—it is VERY full of truffle flavor, and doesn’t pair with just anything. Well, our Belgian Koolputter—salty and full of flavor, was a great match. The cheese stood up to all that truffle beautifully, and the honey smoothed out a lot of the cheese’s finish. If you can’t find Koolputter, try something like Pecorino Romano, Parmigiano-Reggiano, or Piave!
Contact me about France! See you soon!
