Hello, my friends! I wasn’t planning on really celebrating my birthday much, but when Paperless Post contacted me about trying out their invitations, I had to take advantage of that opportunity! I have long loved receiving their invitations in my inbox. They were always so beautiful, and felt as special as an electronic mailing can feel.
Can you believe that Miss Cheesemonger is now 9 years old? I could not have known that the spur-of-the-moment decision to start a blog back then would take me to where my life is today. I might not have begun taking portraits if I hadn’t already been taking photos of food and cheese. And I wouldn’t have all the wonderful people in my life that I do now if I hadn’t decided to dedicate my life to creativity.
Life these days has consisted of one amazing photo shoot after another, so the blog has had to take a bit of a back seat. Except for special occasions like this! I invited a few singer and artist friends via Paperless Post, choosing a theme that was reminiscent of the Mexican folk art M. Cheesemonger and I fell in love with during our recent trip to the Yucatan Peninsula.
We went simple with the food, but definitely chose a special cake from the Fillmore Bakeshop—an enormous St. Honoré, with flaky pastry, crème pâtissière, thin raspberry confiture layer, whipped cream, and caramel-coated cream puffs all over. My college friend Y deftly stepped in to slice it up because I couldn’t figure it out.
So many people brought me flowers as well, including a gorgeous arrangement with dahlias and tuberose. I even got a new handmade dog leash! Now that my mom is moving closer to me, I can use it on #Indythebichon and #Gavinthepuppy when I see them next!
It was a good day, and I’m glad for the time to see my friends and connect with them in real life. Thanks, Paperless Post, for giving me the opportunity to come out from behind my computer and spend time with some of the people I love most!
I received free product in exchange for this post. All thoughts are my own.
